What we collect
When you join the Candor waitlist we collect the phone number you give us, the time of your submission, and the IP address and user-agent of the browser that submitted it. If you arrived through a Candor invite card, we also record which card brought you in.
That's the entire dataset on the waitlist side. No name, no email, no location, no contacts, no analytics scripts, no third-party cookies.
How we use it
We use your phone number for one thing: to text you when there's a spot for you on Candor. We don't share it, sell it, or use it for marketing campaigns unrelated to the launch.
The IP and user-agent are kept for spam and abuse triage. We delete them automatically after thirty days.
Invite cards
Each printed invite card carries a unique code. When you scan one, we record the scan so we can see which cards converted. Scans are tied to the card, not to you — we don't know who scanned it until you actually join the waitlist or sign up.
Data retention
Waitlist entries live in our database until you ask us to delete them, until you sign up (at which point your account replaces the waitlist entry), or until we shut the project down — whichever comes first.
Your rights
You can request deletion of your waitlist entry at any time by emailing hello@candor.date from the phone you used. We'll confirm and remove it within seven days.
If you live in a jurisdiction that grants additional rights (GDPR, CCPA, etc.), those apply too — same email gets you there.
Security
The database lives on a single server we control, behind TLS, with regular off-host backups. We're a small team and we keep the surface area small on purpose: fewer moving parts, fewer ways to leak data.
Third parties
Two services touch the data we collect: a transactional SMS provider (Twilio) and our hosting provider (DigitalOcean). Both are bound by their own data-protection contracts. We don't use analytics, ad networks, or fingerprinting libraries.
Children
Candor is for adults looking to date adults. We don't knowingly accept signups from anyone under 18. If you believe we've collected data from a minor, email us and we'll delete it immediately.
Changes
If we materially change this policy we'll text the heads-up to everyone on the waitlist before the change takes effect. Small wording fixes happen quietly.
